Cooking time: As Required

Ingredients :

½ kg - king fish (made into ¼” thick slices)
½ tsp - turmeric powder
1 tbsp - lemon juice
1 tsp - salt
3 - medium onions, chopped
1 tbsp - ginger, chopped
1 tbsp - garlic, chopped
1 tsp - cumin powder
1 tsp - mustard seeds
1 tsp - red chilli powder
½ tsp - fenugreek seeds
2 cups - yoghurt, whisked
1 tsp - garam masala powder
4 tbsp - oil


Method :

1. Smear the fish with salt, turmeric powder and lemon juice on both sides.
2. Keep aside for 30 mins. Wash and pat dry.
3. Heat oil in a griddle and shallow fry on both sides till it is pink. Keep warm.
4. Heat oil in a pan. Add mustard seeds and fenugreek seeds.
5. When they start spluttering add the onions and fry till pink.
6. Add the garlic and sauté for a minute.
7. Now stir in the red chilli paste, cumin powder, ginger and salt.
8. Saute for a few seconds and mix in the yoghurt. Saute for 3 mins.
9. Add the fish pieces and garam masala, mix and fix a tight lid on the pan.
10. Continue cooking on very low heat for about 6 to 8 mins.
